Hollywood groups are condemning a new artificial intelligence video generator  Seedance 2.0.

Seedance 2.0 can generate videos of Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting each other, among many other generated videos.

In another video which looks like a scene from the film Star Wars, Count Dooku told Obi-Wan Kenobi in the midst of a phone call, ”Yes, I’m busy.”

“Are you taking a call?” Obi-Wan Kenobi said with a look of disbelief.

It’s important,” Count Dooku retorted.

Seedance 2.0 comes from Beijing-based company ByteDance, the creator of TikTok, and lets users create realistic-looking AI videos based on text prompts.

The AI tool is only available in China for now.

The film industry says the platform violates copyright and uses the likeness of actors without permission.

The Motion Picture Association said, “By launching a service that operates without meaningful safeguards against infringement, ByteDance is disregarding well-established copyright law that protects the rights of creators and underpins millions of American jobs.”

Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) said, “This is unacceptable and undercuts the ability of human talent to earn a livelihood.”

Axios reported that Disney has sent a cease and desist letter to ByteDance alleging that copyrighted characters from Star Wars and Marvel were pirated.

Variety reported that Paramount Skydance sent a similar letter to the company.

ByteDance responded on Sunday, saying “we are taking steps to strengthen current safeguards as we work to prevent the unauthorised use of intellectual property and likeness by users.”
