The US has set a deadline to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed this to reporters in Kyiv on Friday.
“The Americans are proposing the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer and will probably put pressure on the parties precisely according to this schedule,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy said Russia and Ukraine have until June to complete the peace negotiations.
He added that the U.S. wants a clear schedule of all events.
He also told the reporters that the U.S. is likely to put more pressure on both sides if fighting continues beyond that point.
The Ukrainian President did not say what form the pressure might take or whether it would apply equally to Kyiv and Moscow.
The US has held two rounds of trilateral talks with Russia and Ukraine to end the war.
